Priority list

Yesterday a friend of mine was complaining about her life. Why does she rank so low on all her friends' priority lists? (She is a stay-at-home mother with three children, longing for the company of other grown-ups.) "What's your rank on your own list?" I asked. "I'm not even on the list" she sighed.

Well, that could be the root of the problem. I remember when a man told me that no woman can ever be on the top of his list. First I felt offended but then I began thinking about it. I realized that I wouldn't put another person on the top, either. Not a man, not my mother (although she's got a high rank), nobody - but me. If I don't consider myself important, who else would?
